Design your unique Gabion fence
At Fenceonline, you have the opportunity to customize your own Gabion fence according to your taste. With our simple configurator, you have control over the end result, ensuring you get a Gabion fence that fits you perfectly. We ensure that the right materials are gathered so everything is ready for assembly. The configurator gathers all components except the stones. There is a choice of three different stones that you can select on the stone page.
Gabion fence Colour
In the configurator, you can choose from the colours thermally galvanized, anthracite, black, green, or dark green. The difference between a colour coating and thermal galvanization is that thermal galvanization is much more resistant to scratches, while a colour coating is often more aesthetically pleasing for your garden.
PLEASE NOTE: The posts of the Gabion fences are NOT coated and are ONLY available in the galvanized colour. Even if coated, coloured double rod mats are chosen, the posts will be in the galvanized colour.
Gabion fence Height
In the configurator, you have the choice between 80 cm, 100 cm, 120 cm, 140 cm, and 180 cm high. The most chosen height in the front garden is 100 cm. When Gabion fences are placed in the backyard, people often choose 180 cm, as this results in more privacy.
Post Type
For the Gabion fences, you have the choice between two posts, namely the "I-profile" or the "Gabion fence list". The most popular post is the I-profile. This post is simple and light but still very robust due to its shape. Would you prefer a more luxurious look and even more stability? Then the "Gabion fence list" is the best choice for you.
Wire Thickness
In the configurator, you have the choice between two wire thicknesses: 6/5/6 or 8/6/8. The most sold wire thickness is 6/5/6. This offers optimal stability and a long lifespan. The 8/6/8 is more often chosen by the industrial and commercial sectors because this thickness offers more stability for the Gabion fence.
Stone Choice for Your Gabion fence
After assembling your Gabion fence, you can choose the stones. The stones provide more privacy and give your garden a luxurious yet natural look. At Fenceonline, you can choose from three different stones:
- Ardenner broken stone: The natural tones create a calm modern atmosphere that adds a touch of authenticity to your garden. These stones fit into almost any garden.
- Rouge Belge broken stone: This stone gives a warm and atmospheric look. The red tones create an inviting space, perfect for gardens where you want to relax.
- Yorkshire broken stone: or do you opt for contemporary elegance with the Yorkshire broken stone. The sharp lines and modern look make it the perfect choice for those looking for a contemporary garden atmosphere.
How much stone do I need?
To fill the Gabion fences, you need large stones. However, the exact amount is difficult to determine precisely, as the stones can be placed in the Gabion fences in different ways. In the table below, you can find an indication of how many stones you need. To calculate the amount you need, look up the amount of stone in kg based on the height of your Gabion fence. Then multiply this quantity by the number of Gabion fences you need. Once you know the quantity, you can choose one of the three types of stones.
PLEASE NOTE: This calculation is based on a Gabion fence length of 2.5 meters. If your Gabion fence is shorter, you will need to convert this. You can find the length of your Gabion fence in the configurator.

Installing Gabion fences
When you order a Gabion fence through our configurator, you'll receive all the necessary materials to install it. The posts should be buried 60 cm into the ground, and we recommend reinforcing the fence with quick-drying concrete. You can select this option in the configuration. With your order, you'll also receive spacers to prevent the double rod mats from sagging when filled with stones. Prefer to leave it to the professionals?
